Royals for me. It's going to be a great Opening Day at the K. A bit windy but temps will be in the mid 60's. I have friends with season tickets so I'll be a "plus one" for a number of games. As to whether we have a team....we'll see. I will miss the K when the stadium moves to the Crossroads. Many many years ago when Mr K was still alive, I worked for his company and we played our annual softball tournament in the stadium. Good times.

Nice! I remember growing up we would drive up from Emporia a couple of times each season for a game. It was always such a big deal.

I've been an A's fan since 1972. I have my SELL shirt and will wear it proudly to any game I go to.
The fans had to put on their own fan fest.
Today's plan is a full boycott of the game with everyone tailgating but not going in. In response the team decided that the parking lot will now open only 2 hours before the game instead of the 4 hours it always does.
Should be yet another 100 loss season. Yay, I guess.

My neighbor has season tickets for this year and he said probably in the next 2-3 years, dependent on how the stadium situation plays out in Vegas. Meanwhile my memories of KC basically boils down to 2 moments...

I agree.....the season starts too soon. Now if MLB wants to schedule the early games in other countries, such as Mexico City, go for it.
My teams: Rockies and Mariners.
The Rockies will stink again this year. They have some great young talent, but their gaping hole last year was pitching, which they didn't do sh*t about in the off season. But they're tour team. Mrs. Mck414 and I went in on a season mini-plan this year, so we'll probably attend 20 or games. We love the ballpark and love watching some of the other teams that come to town. Which we get to see the Mariners come to town on 4/21!
The Mariners will likely finish #2 in the division behind Houston. Maybe squeak into the playoffs. Julio Rodriguez is great fun to watch in CF.
Player to watch possibly explode this year, Ely Dela Cruz in Cincinnati. Dude can flat out play baseball.

The Thursday after sometime.
The lease ends after this year. The new stadium in the best case scenario opens in '28. They don't have a design, they don't have funding, there is a decrepit casino still standing on the site, they don't know where they play for the other 3 years, their payroll this year will be around 30% lower than it was in 2007.

Long time SF Giants fan (grew up in NorCal). Hopeful that the new signings get them back to the playoffs. Lived in NYC for a while and also have a soft spot in heart for Mets.. getting Diaz back is huge.

Oh yeah, I remember sitting on the floor in our living room watching that game. I was 23, deep in GB love.
From Reddit:
Quote:
It was the final out of the top of the 9th and then the bottom of the 9th.
The whole thing was crazy. So many strange things happened.
In a game in 1975, Thurman Munson was called out for too much pine tar on his bat.
Eight years later Graig Nettles sees George Brettâs bat is slathered in pine tar. He tells manager Billy Martin who decides to save that information.
A few months later, Brett hits a two-run home run with two outs in the top of the 9th. The Royals were losing 4-3 but now theyâre up 5-4.
But not for long, because now Martin walks out and starts talking to the umpires.
Royals pitcher Gaylord Perry knows immediately theyâre going to look at Brettâs bat. He tells on-deck batter Hal McRae to grab it.
McRae gives the bat to a ball boy and tells him to put it in the clubhouse. But Stadium security stop him, grab the bat, and give it to the umpire.
The umpire measures the amount of pine tar on the bat (the rule is no more than 18â from the handle) against the width of home plate (17â). Itâs obviously more than an inch more so he calls Brett out and Brett goes crazy.
The home run doesnât count, there were two outs in the top of the 9th, so the game is over. Yankees win, 4-3.
Brett gets ejected even though the game is over.
The Royals protest and the A.L. President â Lee MacPhail, who used to work in the front office for the Yankees â says Brett didnât violate the âspiritâ of the rule. The rule says no more than 18â of pine tar, Iâm not sure what the spirit could be, but⦠ok.
Steinbrenner is so pissed he ridicules MacPhail and is fined $250,000 by the Commissionerâs Office.
So Brett isnât out, the home run counts. Now the game is 5-4 Royals with two outs in the top of the 9th so they have to finish the game.
A month later, they play the final four outs. Brett is watching on TV while having dinner in a restaurant as heâs still ejected.
Itâs an entirely new umpire crew. Billy Martin claims Brett missed first base and since these are all new umpires, how would they know? But MacPhail anticipated Martin would do this and had notarized statements from the original crew attesting Brett touched every base.
McRae makes the final out in the top of the 9th and the Yankees go down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 9th.
Thereâs still a rule about pine tar on the bat, but now the penalty is the bat canât be used, and the batter isnât out.

From last night's Opening Day game against the D-Backs. When their best idea is to trot out the same losing staff as last year, it's f*cking embarrassing.
Pitchers - COLIPHRERBBKHRERA
Freeland(L, 0-1)
2.110101012138.57
Molina
0.1666100162.00
ETA: The box score didn't come through. Freeland pitched 2.1 innings, gave up 10 earned runs, Molina pitched .1 an inning and gave up 6 runs.
Molina's ERA is now higher (162) than the number of games left in the season (161).

To a 14,000 seat AAA stadium with around 25% of those being lawn seats. Just a clown show.
And the team may actually be worse than last year. I will be shocked if they draw 500,000 this year.
Now I need to settle on a new team.

And yet the League refuses to overturn the Safe call that was wrong, and should have ended the game and given Galarraga a perfect game, and a career accomplishment for mediocre pitcher. Everyone agrees he was out, and yet the league wont change it, just another reason to hate baseball.

Home Opener for the Rockies in T -4 hours. Mrs. mck414 are headed to Coors field in 2 hours. The Rockies might suck , but a bad day at the ballpark is better than a good day work.

Throwning in the towel for my beloved Giants, 0.500 isn't going to make the playoff and they are a 0.500 team. Still have some hope for the Mets but their chances of making playoffs in now below 20%. Come playoff time, I guess I'll root for the Padres (have a soft spot in my heart for them from my CA days) or Yankees (lived in Bronx for a while).

Imagine being a Blue Jays fan. All season they had great starting pitching (the bullpen was suspect) but could not hit at all. Now that we are out of it, they have the most HRs in the majors since August 1st, and (puts on his shocked face) they are winning games now!
Idiots.

As a Rockies fan this is kind of my favorite time of the season. They're so far out of it they are now calling up the youngsters. Still no pitching to get excited about and that's their achilles heel. Not sure which teams I'll follow for the postseason. Ohtani is exciting to watch but the Dodgers......I don't know. Same with Judge, I just watched him and the Yankees beat the Rockies like a rented mule this past weekend.
KC is intriguing, Witt Jr. is a hell of a ball player.

The most "excitement" (if you can call it that) to the Blue Jays season happened yesterday. Early this season the Jays and the Red Sox had a game postponed due to rain. Since that game the Jays traded one of their catchers to the Red Sox. Yesterday they finished that game and Danny Jansen became the first player in MLB history to play a game for both teams.
He was at bat for the Jays when they stopped the game. When they restarted the game the Jays had to substitute him out because he was behind the plate for the Red Sox.
How does Danny Hart sit down with balls that big?
