Kylie Minogue’s Most Danceable Hits: 10 Underrated Tracks That Will Get You Moving (2024)

Kylie Minogue has been one of pop’s great divas for decades, and at 56, the petite powerhouse shows no signs of slowing down. Minogue got her start as an actress on the popular Australian soap opera Neighbours in 1986, and quickly emerged as a fan favorite.

In 1988 she released her debut album, and received much hype in her native Australia and the U.K. Soon enough, she had breakout success on the U.S. pop charts, and 16 albums later, she’s proven herself as an enduring star who’s gone from bubblegum pop to artsy experimentation to disco.

Kylie Minogue’s Most Danceable Hits: 10 Underrated Tracks That Will Get You Moving (1)

While Kylie Minogue remains a bigger celebrity in Australia and the U.K. than in the U.S., many of her American fans consider her an underrated gem, and her cult-favorite status runs deep. In anticipation of her 17th album, Tension II, coming out on October 18, and her recently announced 2025 North American tour (her first in 13 years!), we’re taking a look back at some of her greatest hits, all of which are sure to get you grooving.

1. “The Loco-Motion” (1987)

Minogue hit the ground running with her debut single, a perky cover of the 1962 pop classic “The Loco-Motion.” The song was an ideal fit for her girl-next-door image, and it became a surprise hit in the U.S., peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

2. “I Should Be So Lucky” (1987)

With its layers of synthesizers and upbeat tune, “I Should Be So Lucky” is pure ’80s pop goodness, and became one of the young singer’s signature hits. While it wasn’t quite as popular as “The Loco-Motion” in the U.S., it ended up peaking at No. 28 on the Hot 100.

3. “Better the Devil You Know” (1990)

As the ’90s came around, Minogue started to embrace a more sexy and sophisticated style, and “Better the Devil You Know,” her first single of that era, marked a turning point in her career. While her earlier singles were bright and sunny, this had more of an after-midnight vibe. As Minogue said years later, “It definitely marks a change . . . It was the first one that had a darkness, which I probably didn’t realize at the time.”

4. “Confide in Me” (1994)

“Confide in Me” would have made a great James Bond theme song, given the dramatic orchestration and Minogue’s seductive vocals. From 1991 to 1994, the pop star had some growing pains as she sought to reinvent herself, but she saw this song as one of her most successful of this era, and cited hip artists like Björk, Garbage and Tricky as influences on the track.

5. “Spinning Around” (2000)

Minogue came back in a big way in the ’00s, with a string of infectious dance-party hits. At the time “Spinning Around” was released, Minogue had already been in the music industry for over a decade, and she said the song helped revive her career, recalling, “I thought my career was, if not over, very much clinging on . . . Then, “Spinning Around.” I’d been doing this for forever already. I didn’t know that was going to happen, and thankfully it did.”

6. “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” (2001)

If you’re an American, chances are this is the first song that comes to mind when you think of Kylie Minogue. “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” was a massive international hit, topping the charts from Australia to Switzerland and peaking at No. 7 on the Hot 100, and its retro-futuristic music video became inescapable. The catchy “la la la” hook, was quite literally impossible for listeners to get out of their heads, and Minogue herself called it her most iconic song, saying, “It really defines that time.”

7. “Love at First Sight” (2001)

“Love at First Sight” is a dreamy, romantic track that captures the feelings of new romance. While not quite as big as “Can’t Get You Out of My Head,” it was an international hit, and peaked at No. 23 on the Hot 100. The song also earned Minogue her very first Grammy nomination.

8. “Come Into My World” (2001)

“Come Into My World” showed off Minogue’s knack for mixing artsiness and pop, and had a memorable music video featuring multiple Minogues walking through an intricately choreographed city scene, all photographed in one fluid take. The sensual sound and breathy vocals ended up winning the pop star her first Grammy, and she took home the trophy for Best Dance Recording.

9. “Padam Padam” (2023)

While Minogue continued to release music through the 2010s (including a Christmas album), she didn’t have quite the same crossover success as she did at the dawn of the millennium. In 2023 she staged yet another comeback with “Padam Padam,” which immediately became a nightclub and gay pride parade staple and inspired countless memes. As soon as you hear it, the onomatopoeia for a heartbeat becomes a delightfully insistent earworm.

10. “Lights Camera Action” (2024)

“Lights Camera Action,” the first single from Minogue’s upcoming album, is classic Kylie, with its undeniable beat, party-ready synths and vocals that are just as fabulous and confident as ever. The song yet again proves that Minogue deserves her place in the pop pantheon, and In a recent interview, she said, “I’m not ready to hit the pause button just yet.” We can’t wait to see what she does next.
